Azienda Agricola Da Emy

Azienda Agricola Da Emy

The Da Emy farm, in the village of Bois de Clin, grows and works the first transformation of the famous officinal plant used by mountain people to prepare the fabulous liqueur called Génépy.

This small plant with its pleasant aromatic scent and golden yellow flowers is called Artemisia Umbelliformis by botanists.

This species seems to thrive in Valsavarenche. In his work “Fora d'Italia”, the botanist Pignatti notes that although Artemisia Umbelliformis usually grows up to an altitude of 3000 m, in Grivola it is found at 3700m.

So Emilia Berthod's idea of growing, drying and packaging white genepi plants – as they are commonly known – seems a particularly good one.

The small sachets with dried genepi can be bought directly from the company, mailed to one's home address, or purchased in shops in Valsavarenche.

Since 2011 the company has adhered to the Marchio di Qualità programme of the Parco Gran Paradiso.
