The Pianta Grossa Farm was born in 2014; it is named after a century-old chestnut tree that sadly succumbed to old age and bad weather in 2009. The outline of its trunk is the farm's logo.
The vineyards, grown on pergolas, are sited on terraced morainic land on a sharp incline in the municipality of Donnas and Pont-Saint-Martin (about 400 m above sea level).
In summer 2015 the first wine of the farm was produced: 96 Vallée d'Aoste DOC Rouge 2014.
Its name refers to the age of the Grossa tree when its trunk was cut.
In spring 2016 the Dessus Vallée d'Aoste DOC Nebbiolo 2014 was released.
In the future Pianta Grossa will be the first private wine cellar to produce Vallée d'Aoste DOC Donnas.
The company offers tours of the winery and the vineyard - also available in English or French - and the opportunity to experience the wines it produces in its welcoming tasting room.
